With summer coming, many of us are considering joining a gym. But think of a typical gym and chances are you’ll envisage a sterile environment: sweaty, muscular people competitively pumping iron; complicated machinery; walls lined with mirrors; harsh lighting; and an altogether uninviting atmosphere.
Regular trips to the gym are considered a normal part of modern life, yet the reality is many of us are intimidated by the gym setting, and most are overwhelmingly designed around men, which can be off-putting for women.
